Why Worry Too Much about Your Roles in Life?

Background

Like many, I too ask for the Holy Spirit to guide me every time I write and share a post during the weekends.

Today, I am reminded not to worry too much about that as I’m simply a vessel, an instrument. It is the Holy Spirit who is going to touch hearts and minds. It is God who is going to touch lives. It is Him who is working, not me.

Reflection

11 And when they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not be anxious about how you should defend yourself or what you should say, 12 for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.”

Luke 12:11-12

We are simply instruments or supporting actors in whatever ministry or purpose God calls us to do. So let us not take the limelight away from God.

It makes me ponder why I worry too much if I believe that God calls me to carry on such roles: a father, a husband, an eldest in an Asian family of 4 siblings, and the CEO of our small digital marketing business of 7 members (including interns).

Let me take up this role knowing that it is the Holy Spirit who leads me.

I am leaning on the thought that when it comes to our souls, we are the captain of our souls. However, when it comes to our roles in life which God has entrusted to us, I am simply the helmsman.

There is already a set of instructions for me to navigate and follow. We can see it in the Bible and nature.

When it comes to building the Kingdom here on earth, we are simply soldiers trying to follow our King’s command, who is Jesus. You may be a general or a lieutenant; you are still a solder subject to the King.

Prayer

Father in Heaven, thank you for reminding me not to worry too much.

Thank you for reminding me that you are in control of everything. Thank you for making me recall that you support me in every role entrusted to me.

I am no longer afraid or anxious to take these roles knowing that you are there with me in this Journey represented by Jesus as my King. Amen.
