The Enemy’s Deception

In this post, the following words will be used interchangeably: the enemy, Satan, and the devil.
Note, however, that some (scholars or exorcists) say that Lucifer and Satan are not one and the same entity.  It has never been said in the Bible that Lucifer is Satan and vice-versa.  Satan takes the symbol of a snake, while Lucifer takes the symbol of a scorpion. For some scholars, Lucifer and Satan can be one and the same entity.

Why is it dangerous to live in a godless society?

The enemy wants us to think that he does not exist, in as much as he wants us to think that God does not exist. His non-existence and the non-existence of God in our hearts and minds give him an advantage in continuing his rule over the world, though it won’t be lasting. John 12:31 states: Now is the time for the judgment of this world to begin. Now the ruler of this world will be thrown out. Though in a certain degree that the world we are in is not of Jesus, it does not mean that we are overpowered. In Matthew 4:8-9, it says: Once more the Devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, along with their splendor. He told Jesus, “I will give you all these things if you will bow down and worship me!” Then Jesus told him, “Go away, Satan! Because it is written, ‘You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’” So the Devil left him, and angels came and began ministering to him.

Whether we believe it or not, this world is not at all godless. It is either we worship God or Satan. The thought of making it godless is the deception (of the enemy).

What does a satanist say about a godless society?

The Satanic Temple of Detroit held a satanic ceremony on the steps of the state Capitol in Lansing, Michigan on December 19, 2015. This is what the satanist said in the ceremony: If you stand here today and embrace your nature, freethinking, self-governed, and godlessyou too are a Satanist in the eyes of many in your community, including those who represent you in your government. (Reference:

The thought of making this a godless world is Satan’s deception to claim you slowly into his fold.

What is wrong with your nature, freethinking, self-governed, and godless?

In Ephesians 4:22, regarding our former way of life, we are taught to strip off our old nature (instead of embracing it), which is being ruined by its deceptive desires. For in Ephesians 2:3, we read: Indeed, all of us once behaved like them in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of our flesh and senses. By nature we were destined for wrath, just like everyone else.

In the guise of freethinking and self-governed, man begins to think that he is god. Thus making more room for the enemy to subtly impose his intentions. Freethinking can be very deceiving. Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered (Proverbs 28:26). Self-governed can lead to a life of misery and loneliness, a window for the enemy to entice your soul to his bidding (just the perfect playground for demons).

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Let us remember, how the devil tempted Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden. He never asked them to worship him. In fact, he just told them that if they eat the fruit, they would become like God, knowing good and evil.

“You certainly will not die!” the Shining One told the woman. “Even God knows that on the day you eat from it, your eyes will be opened and you’ll become like God, knowing good and evil.” (Genesis 3:4-5 )

As it was in the past, it is the enemy’s intention to again and again entice us into becoming like God. Hiding his true intentions, the godless society just paves the way for his continuous rule.

Yet we have to remember that as christians we are no longer just bystanders in this war that have longed began.

Instead, go to the lost sheep of the nation of Israel. As you go, make this announcement: “The kingdom from heaven is near!” Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, drive out demons. You have received without payment, so give without payment. (Matthew 10:6-8)

Every battle is waged in every faucet of our humanity: emotion, intellect, psyche, body, and spirit. Families are broken; marriages are torn apart; relationships are spoiled; malignant diseases are rising; indebtedness has become the norm; despair has become more prevailing; and demonic possession more subtle and more rampant. These are just some of the signs that the devil and his demons are getting hold of us. In the name of Jesus, by the power of the Holy Spirit, we ask deliverance from all these.

As christians, we have to make a stand now; we have to act now. In Matthew 12:30, it reads: He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad. We cannot afford to be in the crossfire. In times of war, civilians get the most casualties. The devil and his demons are real. We are at war! And we are constantly being attacked from behind. Stop pretending and see what is behind the glamour and eloquence.

Glamour originally was a term applied to a magical-occult spell that was cast on somebody to make them see something the spell-caster wished them to see, when in fact it was not what it seemed to be.

Let us unveil the curtains of deceit by prayer and fasting. Let us ask for the Gifts of the Holy Spirit as well as live by the Fruits of the Holy Spirit. Let us equip ourselves with the armour of God:

Putting on the Whole Armor of God

Finally, be strong in the Lord, relying on his mighty strength. Put on the whole armor of God so that you may be able to stand firm against the Devil’s strategies.  For our struggle is not against human opponents, but against rulers, authorities, cosmic powers in the darkness around us, and evil spiritual forces in the heavenly realm. For this reason, take up the whole armor of God so that you may be able to take a stand whenever evil comes. And when you have done everything you could, you will be able to stand firm.

Stand firm, therefore, having fastened the belt of truth around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and being firm-footed in the gospel of peace.  In addition to having clothed yourselves with these things, having taken up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to put out all the flaming arrows of the evil one, also take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.  Pray in the Spirit at all times with every kind of prayer and request. Likewise, be alert with your most diligent efforts and pray for all the saints. Pray also for me, so that, when I begin to speak, the right words will come to me. Then I will boldly make known the secret of the gospel, for whose sake I am an ambassador in chains, desiring to declare the gospel as boldly as I should. (Ephesians 6:10-20)

Here is a beautiful prayer on spiritual warfare taken from Ephesians 6:10-20:

I put on God’s armor to resist the devil’s tactics. I stand my ground with truth buckled around my waist, and integrity for a breastplate. I put on my sandals ready to proclaim the gospel of peace. I carry the shield of faith to put out the burning arrows of the evil one. I accept salvation from God to be my helmet, and receive the word of God from the spirit to use as a sword. I pray in the Spirit at all times in every prayer and supplication. To that end, I keep myself alert and always persevere in supplication for all the saints.

There are two spiritual kingdoms: that of God and that of Satan. We know that the enemy is comfortably enjoying his rule over this world, while God’s Kingdom is yet to come.

When the seventh angel blew his trumpet, there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The world’s kingdom has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, and he will rule forever and ever.” (Revelation 11:15)

The sad thing is that the enemy has successfully convinced the Church leaders to have less and less need for exorcists, and the faithful does no longer believe in demons.  Personally, I feel that Churches should train more and more exorcists in the days to come.

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. (James 4:7-8)
