16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. And as was his custom, he went to the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and he stood up to read. 17 And the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written,
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives
and recovering of sight to the blind,
to set at liberty those who are oppressed,
19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
20 And he rolled up the scroll and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him. 21 And he began to say to them, “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”Luke 4: 16-21
Was it a coincidence? Was Jesus given that passage from Isaiah intentionally? Was it a ploy? Or was it a divine experience?
Father in Heaven, you have shown yourself to me many times, yet I refuse to see. Forgive me, Father.
When you revealed yourself to Moses and your people, they feared and became distant. They could not bear your presence or the thought of you among your people.
When you came in human form to show your people the way, they became angry. They could not bear your presence or the thought of you among your people.
When you died to save us, rose from the dead, ascended to Heaven — it was then believers grew exponentially across the world, hoping and praying for Christ’s 2nd coming. How confusing humans are. Forgive us, oh, Father.
Despite that, you continue to love us and bless us.
After you’ve delivered us our salvation in the name of Jesus: your son, our king, and our savior — you’ve continued to guide, protect, and provide us throughout the centuries through your Holy Spirit.
Thank you, Father.
Free the world from oppression, oh Father. May your kingdom come as Jesus has already reclaimed this world at the cross.
The enemy has been seditious. They are making their last stand, arming themselves and coming out from their hiding and insurgence.
May your kingdom come. We pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.
