English Standard Version (ESV)
Let No One Disqualify You
16 Therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. 17 These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ.
Are we sometimes ashamed to show our faith even to the people we love or hold dear? Our we embarrassed when someone ask of our diet? Are we reluctant to show that we celebrate the feasts and Sabbath?
The feasts and the sabbath are glimpses of the things to come, that we may worship the King, the Lord of hosts (the Lord of the heavenly armies).
The word hosts is a translation of the Hebrew word sabaoth. Its meaning is “armies”— that is a reference to the angelic armies of heaven.
Then everyone who survives of all the nations that have come against Jerusalem shall go up year after year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Booths.
Therefore, we should not be ashamed. Sooner or later, everyone (who will survive the great war against Jerusalem) shall do the same. So we better get use to it.
