Passage 32: Harmony at Home

Oh, how good, how pleasant it is for brothers to live together in harmony.

Psalm 133:1 (CJB)

Reflection

While the rest of the world stayed at home during the pandemic, people resorted to social networks for communication.

A friend sent me a message via FB messenger weeks ago. Despite the humor in his message, there was a bit of truth intertwined with it.

…this [quarantine] will affect a lot of households in both ways: more babies on the way and lots of separations as well….

I know the statement above might not be true for everyone. However, to a certain degree, it makes me think of situations in many homes when there already exists antipathy (or worse animosity) between the couple.

The forced quarantine can just be the spark to ignite the fuel.

For families who have had love and respect most of the years, the quarantine period may bond them more.

The circumstances are just magnifiers or triggers of the love and hatred every family member has kept in each heart.

Psalm 133 reminds us to live together in peace and harmony. A very timely Bible passage for everyone to ponder especially during this quarantine (shelter-in-place) period.

Harmony at home happens when each family member acknowledges the importance of peace.

Peace happens when we learn to forgive and understand.

Prayer

Father in Heaven,

As much as I pray for protection and providence, I also pray for peace and harmony in the family.

May every hatred and heartache be replaced with peace and forgiveness in the family.

May every spark of peace and understanding be replenished unceasingly.

May this spark of hope ignite the fuel of harmony and love in my family.

This I ask you, oh Father, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Challenge

Our challenge for this week is to try our best to be the bearer of peace and harmony at home. Let us be the spark of forgiveness, peace, and harmony.
