Joel 3:1-3 – God Judges the Heart

Joel 3:1-3
English Standard Version (ESV)

The Lord Judges the Nations
3 [a] “For behold, in those days and at that time, when I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, 2 I will gather all the nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. And I will enter into judgment with them there, on behalf of my people and my heritage Israel, because they have scattered them among the nations and have divided up my land, 3 and have cast lots for my people, and have traded a boy for a prostitute, and have sold a girl for wine and have drunk it.

Are we in those days and that time?  Is judgment at hand?  Is Israel scattered among the nations?  Have the nations cast lots for God’s people?  Have they traded a boy for prostitution?  Is a girl sold for a wine?

In retrospect, have these events really happened?  Most importantly, introspecting, are we too busy with our life that we become negligent of what is happening around us?  Are we not supposed to look after one another as God’s people?  Can we not just spend a time for prayer lifting to God the sufferings of these victims?

Humans have many alibis for their actions; but God judges the heart.
