Passage 35: Empathy

15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.

Romans 12:15 (CJB)

This may sound ridiculous, yet we often hear of others who rejoice when people are sad and weeping. We also hear of the others who weep when some rejoice of good fortune and success.

Are we the type of person who rejoices when others are sad; and weeps when another celebrates success and good fortune?

In today’s Bible passage, we are reminded to be one with our fellow brothers and sisters.

We are reminded to rejoice when others rejoice and to weep when others weep.

We are reminded that we belong to one family; and YHWH is our Father.

Father in Heaven,

I am here again to ask for your grace and forgiveness.

Forgive me for being indifferent to others when the time and situation calls for love and understanding.

Give me the grace to show empathy on others.

Give me the grace to be one with the people I am working with.

Give me the grace to be aware of my family’s need and longings.

Give me the grace fill up the emotional expectations of my love ones.

This I ask in the name of Jesus. Amen. Empathy
